Flipsync is a trading name of Ryan Jamieson, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom, who is the data controller for the website and subscription. Contact: [email protected].
The short version
The Flipsync extension keeps your selling data in your own browser. Our servers only know your email address, your subscription status, which browsers you've connected, and any problem reports you choose to send us. Items you save on your phone stay on our servers until your computer collects them. If you switch on "Show my inventory on my phone" in Flipsync, a copy of your inventory is kept on our servers so your phone can show it, until you switch it off. We don't sell data, show ads or track you across websites.
What the extension does with data
To cross-list and delist, the extension works with the marketplace websites you use, in your browser:
- Listing data you enter or import (titles, descriptions, photos, prices, sizes, SKUs, costs, sales, expenses and notes) is stored in your browser's extension storage on your computer. It is not sent to us, except in a problem report you choose to send, or the copy of your inventory for your phone if you switch that on (see below).
- Marketplace pages. When you post, import, sync or delist, the extension opens the marketplace's own pages and reads or fills them, the same as you would by hand. The information goes only between your browser and that marketplace.
- Sign-in checks. The extension checks whether you're signed in to each marketplace by looking at that site's cookies or loading a page only signed-in users can see. It never reads, stores or sends your marketplace passwords.
- Seller profile. Details you choose to save in Profile (such as name, address and phone) stay in your browser and are only used to fill marketplace sign-up forms when you ask. Flipsync never stores passwords, bank or card details, or ID numbers.
- eBay sold prices. If you use "Check sold prices", the extension searches eBay's public sold listings from your browser.
The extension sends flipsync.co.uk a request to check that your subscription is active, using a random token for your browser. That request contains no listing or marketplace data. The only other things it sends are a problem report, when you send one, and, if you switch on "Show my inventory on my phone", the copy of your inventory described below. It also collects any items you've saved on your phone, which deletes them from our servers.
Flipsync on your phone
Items you save at flipsync.co.uk/phone (their photos, the details you type and a small preview picture) stay on our servers only until Flipsync on your computer collects them, then they're deleted (a blank note that it was collected stays for 30 days, so your phone knows it arrived). Items your computer doesn't collect are deleted after 14 days, and ones that didn't finish uploading after a day. You can also delete them on your phone at any time.
Your inventory on your phone is off until you switch on "Show my inventory on my phone" in Flipsync's Settings. While it's on, Flipsync on your computer keeps a copy on our servers of your items in stock and your sales from the last 90 days: their titles, brands, sizes, prices, SKUs, storage spots and tags, which marketplaces they're listed on (with links to the listings), when they sold, where and for how much, whether they've been posted, and a small picture of each. It never includes your costs, descriptions, full photos, buyer details or marketplace logins. Your phone only reads it, signed in to your account. Flipsync replaces it as things change, and it's deleted when you switch it off, or 60 days after your computer last updated it.
What our website and servers hold
- Account: your email address and your Stripe customer ID, subscription status and renewal or trial dates.
- Connected browsers: a hashed token for each browser you connect, a label such as "Chrome on Windows", and when it last checked in.
- Problem reports: if you use "Report a problem" in the extension, what you write, and, unless you untick it, technical details: Flipsync's version, your browser, your Flipsync settings, which marketplaces you use and whether you're signed in to them, how many items you have, and your most recent Activity lines (these can include item titles and marketplace messages). You can see exactly what will be sent before you send it. Reports never include your seller profile, photos, passwords or payment details. We use them only to fix problems.
- Phone drafts: items you've saved on your phone, until your computer collects them (see above).
- Inventory for your phone: only if you switch it on, the copy of your inventory described above, with when your computer last sent it and from which browser.
- Sign-in: hashed one-time codes and a sign-in cookie, which is strictly necessary to keep you signed in. We don't use analytics or advertising cookies.
We use this to provide the service you've signed up for (the lawful basis is performance of a contract) and to prevent abuse (legitimate interests).
Who processes data for us
- Stripe takes payments. Your card details go to Stripe, never to us. See Stripe's privacy policy.
- Cloudflare hosts the website and its database.
- Resend sends sign-in emails.
Some of these providers process data outside the UK under appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
How long we keep it
We keep account details while you subscribe and for up to 6 years after, as needed for tax and accounting records. Sign-in codes expire after 15 minutes and are deleted within a day. Connected-browser tokens are deleted when you disconnect them or connect a newer browser. Problem reports are deleted within a year of the problem being closed. Phone drafts are deleted as soon as your computer collects them (a blank note that it was collected stays 30 days), or after 14 days if it doesn't (a day if they didn't finish uploading). The inventory copy for your phone is deleted when you switch it off, or 60 days after your computer last updated it. Data in your browser stays until you delete it or remove the extension.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the data we hold about you, or object to how we use it, by emailing [email protected]. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
